Posted in Blog by Brooke Trout

We are so excited to announce our debut album Fish Out Of Water is now available online as of May 1st on CDBaby, iTunes and several other digital music vendors. A very special thank you to Mike Milchner of Sonic Vision Mastering! We just got our first official review of our album written by journalist Will Phoenix you can check out here: http://www.axs.com/brill-s-debut-disc-is-no-fish-out-of-water-44289

“O Song” was our first single from the album and has been featured on programs across the globe including Museboat Radio, The Soupy Gato Show, JVonD Radio and Insomnia Radio. Our second single “Shine” was featured on WomensRadio.com’s The Female Musicians Daily. You can get a sneak peek of what to expect from the album by checking out our two music videos for the songs, animated by Brooke Trout:

These are among a few of the album’s tracks that feature ukulele. Brooke got lessons last year on the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage from Grammy award winning ukulelist Daniel Ho during the annual Ukule-Along at The LA Music Center. The Ukule-Along is an amazing educational opportunity for all levels of experience not to mention a unique confluence of hundreds of Hawaiian and Ukelele pun garbed folks! “Party Till You Uke” was one of Brooke’s especial favorite t-shirt slogans, donned by a guy who may or may not have been John Waters.

Brooke also just got back from her first time in The Big Easy where she discovered some sweet nonprofits including http://www.saveourcemeteries.org/ that offer walking guided tours. Proceeds go towards the restoration and maintenance of the historic sites. She also discovered http://cafereconcile.org/ which is a nonprofit job training program and restaurant.  The highlight of the trip was getting a chance to see a rare performance by the legendary Allen Toussaint at yet another nonprofit, the French Quarter Music Festival: http://fqfi.org/. Here is an article Brooke wrote about cocktails with nary a mention of the city’s super-neat open container policy for Mahoganygirl.net: http://mahoganygirl.net/sipneworleans/

Brooke’s latest live concert review for PEACH is now live in the May edition of Music Connection (page 54). Check out the reviews online here: http://musicconnection.com/magazine/current-digital.

Special thanks to Imagination Dark Books and NetteRadio Daily Edition for including Brooke’s poems in your newsletters! Thanks also to Monday Blogs and AllBlogBot for retweeting! You can check out Brooke’s poems and art on her Tumblr page at http://brooketroutblog.tumblr.com/.
