Freddy’s Coming For You
Posted in Blog by Brooke Trout
One, Two…Freddy’s Coming For You! When? This Friday the 13th! Brooke Trout is curating “Freddy Got Framed,” a Freddy Krueger themed art and comedy show for Boshin Gallery, 1621 1/2 N Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028.
This tribute to the film “Nightmare On Elm Street” begins at 7 p.m. Featuring the artistry of Edwin Aguilar, Juliana Martinez, Lori Antoinette, Adriana Salgado, John Romero, Amber Adcock, Andrea Monroe, Brooke Trout, Valerie Michelle, Ed Greer, Sera Blvd and Maisha Cole.
Stick around too for a special Freddy Themed Comedy Show at 9 p.m. featuring your hosts for the show, Tony Bartolone & Ric Rosario and performances by Austin Wolf Southern, Rick Wood, Klee Wiggins, Mr. Goodnight, Andy Peters and the comedy team of Curt Neill and Cornell Reid of “The Bro Show”! (18+ • 21+ to drink • $10)
Just one week ago Brooke was asked to produce this showcase and decided to, in the immortal words of the great Steve Winwood, “Roll With It Baby.” Much credit must be shouted out to Edwin Aguilar, Ruth Villa, Juliana Martinez and Tony Bartolone for all their incredible help with spreading the word and helping pull this show together at such short notice!
So it has been a busy September! Brooke has also been working with the Canoga Park Improvement Association to support the annual Dia De Los Muertos Festival on November 3rd. She is also now the assistant director of the Horses Across The Valley art project for The Museum of the San Fernando Valley. This project will benefit horse related charities and we are just busting to spill some very exciting developments (soon)! The project involves the decoration of a full size fiberglass horse that selected artists will make their own. Neighborhood councils are also being encouraged to participate and you can find out more about this Valley-wide event at http://www.horsesacrossthevalley.org.
The latest news for Brill is we enjoyed our time at last month’s Ventura Arts In the Park benefit for Food Share Inc. (Special thanks again to Barbara Hinton!) We got the greatest compliment from a little girl after our show who said, “Thank you for bringing your beautiful music into my world!”
Brill is currently working on new material for our forthcoming album for Spring, 2015 and we are anticipating future shows for the 2014 holiday season that we’ll be sure to keep you posted on.
