Brill is currently in the final stages of refining our ten original songs before we start recording our debut album “Fish Out Of Water” to be released in the Spring of 2015. We have not been playing any shows this year in the interest of producing the highest quality work but we do have a special “save the date” to announce for a rare performance where you can get a sneak peak of what we’ve been up to! We may even have a special digital download sticker of our first single when you see us next! Save the date for August 5th at Matt Denny’s in Arcadia. This is for J.C. Hyke’s weekly showcase “Songwriter’s Serenade” at Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant & Bar, 145 E. Huntington Dr. in Arcadia, CA 91006 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The night of original music from a variety of genres is held on a lovely covered patio with plenty of heaters for a warm, cozy evening. There is also free parking around the back.

I am also excited to announce that I am returning to Mahoganygirl! It was just about ten years ago I was the “What’s Hot” editor for the web site, covering a variety of products with reviews and contributing occasional interviews. I’ll be returning to the newly re-launched Mahoganygirl.net as a political correspondent with bimonthly editorials so stay tuned for content updates on my twitter account: http://twitter.com/currenthoughts

You are also invited to enjoy my free E-Book “Dare To Be”. This is a 20th anniversary retrospective compilation of “Different- Your Alternative Newspaper,” a collection of art, poetry, short stories and all things Alternative. It will take a few minutes for you to download as it is a comprehensive 169 page volume but I hope you enjoy it! I have wanted to release a free E-Book for all former contributors to the zine on my web site. I am pleased to share never before seen mementos as well as some brand new retrospectives by former staff members. Our zine was originally started as a forum to express grief over the loss of a teen friend to suicide. Although there are no simple answers and there are several schools of thought today on the topic many now choose to believe suicide is a disease, an illness that can be treated, and an issue that can be brought to light through education and compassion. It is with great sadness and few words that I wish to dedicate this volume to a former staff member who I recently discovered took his own life after experiencing PTSD from military service. My friend was definitely one of the “Square Table” and I remember him today for his irreverent sense of humor and kindness to others. He will be missed!
